Logan walked down the barn aisle. It was very hot that day and so the teen sported a white muscle shirt with his tan jodhpurs. He saw Rush stick her head out of her stall a few stalls away and he smiled at his mare. "Hey Rush! Should we go work out your jitters?" Logan asked his dapple grey made as he scratched her forehead. Logan unbolted the metal latch of the stall door and slid it open. He gently grabbed Rush's leather halter. His fingers grazed the metal plate and he could feel Adreniline Rush "Rush" engraved into it, as he led her out to the cross ties. Logan clipped the cross ties onto his mares halter and walked over to his grooming kit to get a soft dandy brush. Rush's coat was soft and silky from the top care she had received. It didn't take long for Logan to have her horse groomed, tacked, and ready for a ride. Logan grab his helmet and placed it on his head before buckling it and grabbing his mare's reins leading her in the direction of the outdoor arena.
When the pair reached the arena no one was in there, yet there was a course of jumps that looked maybe 3'0 feet. That would be easy for Rush and so he left them that height. A nice height to has their first lesson at this new stable. Logan quickly mounted up on the 16'3 horse and they were off to do their warm-up. They walked and trotted on a loose rein in both directions before starting their schooling session.
Logan gathered up his reins before asking his mare to collect and go into a nice rising trot. With each time Logan posted you could see his muscles flex. He quietly moved his outside leg behind the girth and squeezed. Rush kept her collection and picked up the correct lead. Logan grinned as he pulled her back down to a walk and asked her to do a have circle reverse.

Amber swung one leg back over the saddle as she leaned over her horse, trying to tighten the girth. Tightening girths from saddles was always a pain, but she'd gotten rather good at it. Royal fidgeted slightly as she tightened it, but once it was over, they were on their way anyways, and the tense horse loosened up. He didn't like having the girth tightened, it always made him antsy. However, all was well as they made their way out to the arena. Amber always preferred the outdoor arena, even if it was wet and cold. She just liked it better, the fresh air always did her good, and she liked feeling tough. However, today was quite nice outside, so the hardened Washingtonian was sporting a light blue tee shirt and her jeans. She didn't feel like wearing breeches today, as she was just going to school a couple of jumps.
As she walked out to the arena, she saw another person out there. It was a guy, wearing a white shirt and tan breeches, with a dappled grey horse. He seemed pretty experienced, and the pair looked good. Royal watched the pair with a curious look, both ears pricked. She was very proud of how well he was taking in all the new things, having spooked little since their arrival. Amber waited till the pair was on the other side of the arena before opening the gate and sliding in, closing it behind her. As the pair slowed to a walk at the other end, Amber felt it appropriate to greet them. She raised her hand and waved. "Hey," she said. That was the extent of her acknowledgment as she gathered her reins, and asked Royal for a more forward walk. As she did, she gently lifted the right rein (as she was tracking right), and giving gentle tweaks, asked her horse for a shoulder in. After a moment or two, Royal did as he was told.
She walked him on one end of the arena for a bit, doing various turns and circles, getting her her horses mouth supple and rounding him up. Once that was accomplished, she asked him for a trot, and she couldn't help but grin. He had such a lovely big hunter trot, he would be fabulous at it. Yet the horse loved the speed and rush of the jumper ring as much as she did, so hunters would never be a real serious pursuit. As Amber and Royal trotted past the other student, she allowed her eyes to flicker towards him a bit. It was an unnoticeable gesture, and it allowed her to size him up a bit. He looked tall, even on the big mare he was riding, and seemed like an athletic type. He seemed quite relaxed on top of his horse, and he definitely knew what he was doing. Perhaps she would strike up a conversation with him after she was done warming up.
She trotted both directions, did some leg yields, extensions (which he excelled at, snapping his legs out to get maximum coverage), and more bending and shoulder ins. Once finished, she brought him down to a walk, allowing some breathing time before she cantered. It sure was a nice day, and as she looked around the arena, she spied some nice 2' fences, and a couple over that. Perfect for her first time really riding him.
words; 569 muse; good notes; thought I'd throw her in, see how they get along :)

Logan watched another teen enter the ring. He left them to be figuring they might want to be left alone to concentrate. He knew sometimes he just needed that extra alone time, but this time he was feeling more talkitive and friendly. "Hi" he replied to hr welcoming. He gave her his girl winning smile and watched as she quickly went back to work. He could tell she was a dedicated rider by her posture and all. He liked thoose people.
Logan looked at one of the small jumps and decided to pop her over it, bu then he noticed a set if trot poles out and set perfectly. He decided to take Rush over the trot poles first, just to get her in the right mindset. He asked her to pick up the trot by giving a little cluck with his tounge. He loosend up on the reins a bit, letting his grateful mare be more comfortable. Logan looked at the young girl and looked at the trot poles. He poles were just inside he rail so he wouldn't have to dodge the horse and rider.
Logan took Rush in the opposite direction so he could see the other rider comming. He got a stunning jumper trot, before pointing her in the direction of the colored poles. She happily trotted over them giving a little neigh, as she did so.

The "hi" she received sufficed for the time being, and Amber watched him ride a moment. He and the mare were a lovely pair, but she had her own work to do. She allowed Royal to chew on the bit as he pleased, and stretch a bit before she cantered, watching as the other student trotted nicely over some poles. She probably would have continued watching him, but she had her own fish to fry. In one smooth motion, she picked up her reins, and prepared to canter. Shifting her weight to the outside, she asked for a bend and for his hind end to move out, collected him up, and asked for the canter. He transitioned smoothly; a result of months of hard work with the ex-racehorse. Even on the right lead, he was still smooth. She kept out of the other student's way, her horses twelve foot stride eating up the ground as she cantered around the arena.
She asked for some bending and softening, which she got after a moment, as well as some lifting and balancing. The thoroughbred had a tendency to fall in on the inside shoulder; it was not so bad to the right, but to the left it had the tendency to turn into a nightmare. A result of his racing years. She cantered twice around the ring before she did some canter to walk transitions, checking her breaks. Then, she picked up the canter again, and did a flying change across the center, which he executed jumper style; a little bit of a leap, he wasn't one hundred percent balanced, but they were getting there. immediately she lifted him up, and leg yielded to the outside, balancing her horse, and asking him to go forward into the twelve foot stride again. After a few rounds, halts, walks, etc, she brought him to a loose walk, and began picking out which jumps to do.
Hmm....
