27. MALE. TRAINER. HETEROSEXUAL.
Takuya Sakane. Poster child for the equestrian world. He grew up in Japan, where horses weren't really a common thing. Racing was big, but showjumping was another thing. That, and all the horses were off the track and usually cracked out, so he learned to ride on the hardest mounts. He has a solid seat and seems to be fearless when it comes tor riding. At one point, he was the top rider for his country and qualified for the Olympics. However, he had family issues that didn't allow him to pursue the Olympics. The more he looked at it, the more he didn't want to ride at that level of competition. For the past few years, he's slacked. His two mares and one stallion got plenty of time in the fields of Holland and got used by other riders to keep in shape.
While all of this was going on, Takuya capitalized off of how popular he became. He was an icon of the sorts for the country, despite no one really knowing the basis of showjumping. They just saw this handsome man who made the sport what it was for the country. He tried to push for natural horsemanship and more space for his horses (hence sending them to Holland!) while introducing the country to the beauty of horses. It was more of a materialistic thing when horses started to appear on billboards than anything else. He then gave up and relocated to America to start participating in and leading clinics with his right-hand lady, Devilette.
When not riding, Takuya has his parents (who are overly supportive and seem to be the ideal horse show family), and his older sister to deal with. He is a cat person, and has three cats. He also has one dog named Billy the Kid, who is a hyperactive pit bull. He lives alone, no spouse to speak of, but seems to be open to a relationship with a girl...Although he's the most awkward person to go on a date with. Takuya enjoys the outdoors, hiking, reading books, random television series, rock climbing, river rafting, traveling, and hanging out.
He was hired at Brass Ring specifically to correct rider faults, specifically in the emotional area. He is an incredibly talented trainer, with the ability to unlock every rider's full potential after only several lessons. He motivates riders to get into the right headspace and help their horses out. He also can correct horse vices and does it in a non-evasive manner. When he was hired, he gratefully accepted the position, opting to live on-campus in a small cottage where his three cats and dog had plenty of space to relax and live. Most students call him "Sensei" or "Ninja Master" teasingly, mostly poking fun at his sometimes strong accent and very disciplined methods. After all, he is a "ninja."
